Here at Ashford we wholeheartedly believe this to be the case. Whatever anyone decides to do in life in their career or hobbies, the ability to stand up and 'perform' to some degree will stand them in great stead.
To the end, we provide ALL our students with opportunities to act, sing and dance or to assist in some way in a variety of productions throughout the school year.
As you will see by browsing our drama pages, we take performance seriously here at Ashford. All we ask is that you jump in and have a go; if you have a talent we will find it and help it grow.
"Tell me and I will forget; show me and I will remember; involve me and I will understand." Chinese Proverb
Drama shows children skills they didn't know they had. It is always wonderful seeing the joy on the children's faces when they are performing on stage and seeing their excitement in anticipation of a drama lesson.
We regard drama as an important part of the children's educational experience. Through specialised lessons the children learn to:
- Develop social and interpersonal skills
- Accept constructive criticism
- Build social skills with other children to complete performances
- Become more confident general and especially about public speaking
- Develop tolerance and empathy
