Physical Education is available to pupils at both GCSE and A Level. Both courses have a strong practical component where candidates gain marks for their ability to perform, coach or officiate in an extensive range of sports.
Many of our top performers have further enhanced their sporting knowledge by completing National Governing Body coaching and officiating courses in their main sport. The benefits of developing leadership skills are well publicised and in recent years our GCSE pupils have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to coach pupils from our prep school.
Each course also includes a theory element, covering topics ranging from sports psychology, exercise physiology, biomechanics and the social aspects of sport from recreational to elite level. Where possible, these theoretical concepts are delivered in a practical context so that our candidates can see how they directly apply to sporting situations.
