Over the last few years as Ashford School has expanded; the Governors have made it a priority to increase the number of excellent teaching staff to generous levels; consequently, the staff to pupil ratio is about 1:10.

We have a healthy mix of ages: we are lucky to have many teachers with years of experience, and we are equally fortunate to be able to attract young teachers who often add new ideas to the highly successful practices we have established in the classroom.

Our teachers are well qualified in their specific subjects and are also enthusiastic about it. Ashford teachers are encouraged to explore modern methodology and to adopt it when appropriate; the school considers professional development for staff to be vital and devotes considerable resources to this part of our work and takes full advantage of the resources available centrally through United Learning.

We were among the first schools to provide interactive white boards in every classroom, have been experimenting with using ActivExpression voting pads in lessons and are currently introducing personal portable devices for each pupil in the senior school. This technology allows teachers to enhance lessons by using high-quality visual material to stimulate learning and discussion: we are equally committed to our Learning Centres.
