Ashford has always been a school with momentum. Taking inspiration from our past and building upon the legacy of previous generations, we want to ensure that the School in the 21st Century fulfils our obligation to those who came before us and to those who will benefit from an Ashford education now and in the future. At every stage of its history, the School has been aided by parents and former pupils to take it to the next stage of its development. Ashford is a school that delivers on its promises, so you can have the confidence that your support will really count.
In August this year some of our younger former pupils will be calling Ashfordians and parents to tell them more about the Ashford School Foundation, what we aim to achieve in the future, and how the growing number of former people donating to the Annual Fund helps us in achieving our goals. The support we receive is crucial to continue to educate the next generation of fine young men and women, regardless of their background or financial circumstances.
In this first major fundraising exercise, we're aiming to raise £50,000 towards the funding of new school projects and the Foundation's Assisted Places Fund. Everyone's contribution is welcome, be it great or small.
We hope that you enjoy speaking with a young Ashfordian and that you will consider joining many others who generously support our Annual Fund.
Here are brief bios of a few of our campaign callers:
|Will: I spent nine years at Ashford School and was a member of the class of 2015. I am now studying Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London. IN my spare time I like to play as much football as possible. Since leaving the school I have greatly enjoyed returning as an Ashfordian to play in the hockey and cricket matches against staff and current pupils, and look forward to doing so again in the future.|
|Nick: I am in my second year of a five year degree course at St Andrews University in Scotland, studying French and Spanish. When not enjoying the beautiful Scottish scenery, I can be found indulging my passion for tennis. I am an avid member of the university tennis squad, as well as a member of the Bethersden Tennis Club. This summer I am privileged to have been invited to deliver tennis coaching to young people at the Olympic Youth Development Centre in Zambia.|
|Theodore: I finished studying at Ashford School two years ago and I am now working towards a Masters in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering at the University of Southampton.In my spare time I enjoy sailing dinghies and yachts as well as playing golf and tennis. I also love socialising and playing the saxophone.|
A direct debit made over a three or five-year period to the Foundation’s Annual Fund appeal is an attractive option for both donors and the School as it enables the cost of the gift to be spread over a number of the year whilst enabling the School to predict future donation income with a high degree of certainty. Each year donors to the Annual Fund provide the resources to enhance and broaden the life and educational development of our pupils and to build up greater reserves to fund mean-tested financial support for our pupils.
Whether you make your donation by a single annual gift or by a regular monthly direct debit payment, those whose annual donation to the Foundation is £1,898 or more will be invited to become members of The 1898 Society. In recognition of the fact that some younger Ashfordians might be interested in supporting the School, but not at this level, there are special tiers of membership for alumni under 35 years of age and for recent leavers.
Your gifts, whether regular or one-off, can make a significant difference to the School. Our ambitions for the future are bold and innovative but we will need support from our communities if we are to realise them. We know our alumni, parents and friends are loyal and grateful for the education they and their children receive so we hope you already feel you have many reasons to support Ashford School.
|Regular Donations||Single Donation|
All members of the 1898 Society will receive recognition in the annual Foundation Donor Report and priority invitations to School and Foundation events.
