Ashford School was filled with the sound of music last week as over 75 students aged from 8 – 13 from local schools took part in Ashford School’s Music Day for Prep Schools.
With a fun filled day of masterclasses for musicians and singers a band of almost 40 young players was built to open the final concert with a stirring rendition of the theme from 'The Muppet Show' and, with the sun shining, went on to charm us with David Stone’s Carribean Serenade.
The Chamber Choir gave us McCavity the Mystery Cat from 'Cats!' before all the participants joined together to form a massed choir of almost 100 voices to perform Mr Mesptopheles, also from 'Cats!'.
The final item to be performed was the hauntingly beautiful Can You Hear Me?, a song written from the point of view of a deaf child. As well as singing, the choir signed the chorus beautifully.
When not learning music for the concert, visitors and Ashford students alike enjoyed the sunshine and made new friends – a lovely day was had by all.
