Dad Rules

The eagerly anticipated visit from author, actor and stand-up comedian, Andrew Clover took place on Wednesday this week for pupils in Year 8.

Originally delayed due to the weather at the start of term, Andrew's talk took place throughout the morning with stories on a variety of aspects to interest the pupils.

Andrew spoke about his acting career and how he got the part of the clown in the first series of Ashes to Ashes – one of his favourite stories.

He offered lots of advice to the pupils on how to write and what to write about and began by reading an extract from his own book “Dirty Angels”.

His visit finished with a “meditation” session whereby the pupils had to sit quietly for a few minutes with closed eyes, picturing a scene that he was describing to them to encourage imagination and ways to generate ideas.

"It was hugely entertaining, as usual, and there was lots of interaction with the Year 8 pupils. We all look forward to his visits each year." Mrs Wootton, Library Assistant
