Esafety: You, Your Child and Technology

Esafety: You, Your Child and Technology

Thursday 4 March 2010, 7.00pm for 7.30pm, Brake Hall

Our next Parents Pastoral and Social Evening will be held on Thursday 4 March 2010. Following a very successful and well attended event last term on ‘Getting the Best Out of Me and My teenager’ led by the Life Skills Company, ‘You, Your Child and Technology’ is being presented by Mr James Garnett from USCT Head office.

With the increase in use of mobile technology and social networking sites by children, and the associated rise in cases of cyber-bullying and use of this sort of technology by those who may wish to harm children, there has never been a more appropriate time to address this agenda.

Parents from Year 6 to Year 10 are invited. If you would like to attend please contact Mrs Tanya Lester by 26 February; lestert@ashfordschool.co.uk.

Mr James Garnett is an ICT and e-learning specialist. Following 14 years teaching mathematics and ICT in both the state and independent sectors, James Garnett moved from his position of Director of ICT at Surbiton High School to join the UCST ICT and e-Learning team as Lead ICT Projects Co-ordinator. Since the first manifestations of social networking sites within schools James has taken a lead in supporting schools and academies in the group to educate students, staff and parents of the risks associated with the technologies and, as importantly, how to stay safe while using the wide range of technologies which can now communicate electronically.
