Swimming to success!

Swimming to success!

Pupils from the Senior School and the Prep School took part in the Granville Swimming Gala hosted at Kings School Rochester last week competing against 4 of the 6 schools in the league including Gads Hill and Dover College.

With a successful afternoon's sporting fun, the U13 boys and U13 girls both won their competitions
and the U11 girls came 2nd to Kings Rochester by 1 point.

Both the girls and boys were very enthusiastic and determined to give it their all. They were both matched by some strong competition and it was a very close run gala.

The u13 girls were trailing through the individual races, although the races were very close and some very strong finishes from all the competitors, but their combined effort in the relays accelerated them to a joint first with Gads Hill.

The boys were also finding it difficult to find the results in the individual races and again they were only just being pipped to the post. However an eye opening performance by Folarin Ogunsola in the butterfly event left the field behind and a pool full of open mouthed spectators. Then two excellent team performances in the relays brought them back into contention, resulting in a joint win with Gads Hill and Kings Rochester.

The U11 boys finished 3rd in their competition but are looking forward to the next Granville league competition for another chance at the title!

"Overall, an excellent performance by all and an exciting prospect for Ashford swimming for the future."
Mr Boyd, PE Teacher
