This week's publication of the Financial Times list of top 1000 schools shows how successful Ashford School students are in achieving high grades in the subjects most valued by the leading universities. The FT's school league tables focus unashamedly on academic achievement defined by "core" subject A-level results, as set out by Cambridge University in 2006.
Students in the Senior School at Ashford School do much, much more than academic study and all they do supports their academic achivements. For many, gaining a place at a university of their choice is an important outcome and one we focus on in the Sixth Form. So it is pleasing to see that our students' success in their studies is recognised and we are ranked amongst the top schools in the UK and Kent.
Combined with the fact that our GCSE results in 2009 put the school in the top 5% nationally for value-added (i.e. the impact of the school on pupils' achievement) and you can see that youngsters at Ashford School are working hard and being successful.
