Food from the Farm

Year 9 were treated to a day out at Old Hall Farm in Romney Marsh earlier this week as part of their Food Studies course. Owned by Ashford School parents Mr & Mrs Ovenden, the weather held out for a fantastic day out and Mrs. Ovenden really made the pupils and staff feel welcome.

After showing the pupils the pigs, calves, sheep, goats, hens and ducks, she than gave the students a taste of some of the sausages she had made from pork from the farm pigs.

Mr Perton, an invited guest, gave the students a talk on locally grown vegetables and prepared a big bowl of pasta with pesto made from fesh, locally grown veggies. The students loved the whole experience and staff are looking forward to next year's visit!

The video below is a recording of the day with students meeting the animals at the farm.
