Action in LA

Well, it has been a somewhat hectic start to the term with a large number of students and teachers stranded at various places across the globe but despite the chaos, Ashford School is back in the swing of things

The 2010 Easter holidays were something to remember with happiness for many pupils who were able to take part in one of the major trips that took place at the start of the break, heading for the sun of San Francisco or the snow of the ski slopes!

This is a brief overview of what happened on the LA trip from Mrs Millbery. More information will come later:

We are back from our hectic and action packed trip to San Francisco and Los Angeles. With action and adventure every day all the students are exhausted and happy and have had the time of their lives!

The highlights of the trip included:

  • A hair raising late night ride on the famous cable cars of San Francisco
  • Visiting the seals at Pier 39
  • A trip to Alcatraz and the return from Alkatraz with two students less than we started with... no not on purpose and not down to us... we got them back!
  • Seeing a fantastic production of Wicked from the best seats in the house.
  • Eating!
  • Eating deep fried Artichokes’ which tasted a bit like deep fried socks, but hey, when in Rome!
  • Finding a weird creature in the rock pools south of Monterey (no not a year 11 boy)
  • Eating!
  • Being involved in an earthquake at Universal Studios (not for real but it felt like it)
  • Standing in the footsteps of the stars at the Kodak Theatre and the pavement outside Graumans Chinese Theatre
  • Eating!
  • Rodeo Drive... aah every girls dream location!
  • Visiting Wisteria Lane
  • Buying literally everything in Abercrombie and Fitch!
  • Working on our audition techniques with a film actor,
  • Posing on muscle beach,
  • Eating,
  • And so much more!

Strangely... that was a holiday for the Drama Department. Just wait to see what's in store back at school!
