God Bless Queen Victoria

Year 5 pupils at Ashford Friars Prep School went back in time to the Victorian era. The Children spent the whole day wearing Victorian clothing and behaving like Victorian school children.  The costumes represented a very wide range of Victorian dress anywhere from the poorest chimney sweep to the smartest gentleman.

Year 5 took part in a school lesson lead by a Victorian School master. The children used old fashion writing on blackboards, an abacus and the master even had a cane. Thankfully the children were on their best behavior!

At playtime, the school master demonstrated how authentic Victorian games and equipment were used and the children were allowed to play with the articles.

After playtime the children returned to the school room for a quiz to identify different Victorian inventions and artifacts.

Victorian day was great fun. It gave the students a real insight into what It would have been like to be at school in Victorian times and I think it made most of year 5 very grateful for Ashford Friars Prep School as it is today!
