Reading is Accelerating

Pupils in the Prep and Senior Schools are rapidly becoming millionaires as more and more of them rack up over a million words read in our innovative Accelerated Reader Project. The aim of the project is to encourage reading of all sorts and, as a result, to develop pupils' vocabulary, spelling and comprehension and to have fun reading.

Most books in our learning centres are graded according to the project so pupils can easily chose ones that are suitable for them. Once they complete a book they take an online quiz and gain points towards prizes.

The Project has been running for only a few weeks and already we can see an improvement in reading amongst the target year groups. So far, over 500 quizzes have been completed which is an average of nearly 10 books per pupil. At the end of the academic year the pupils will be tested to see just how much they have advanced. In the meantime, they are enjoying their reading.
