Rainforest Day

Rainforest day at Ashford Friars Prep School was a great success! The rainforest café was open for the children at break time and then at 3pm for parents and visitors. The Year 5s managed to raise £450 and this will go towards purchasing an 8 acre piece of land in the Amazon rainforest.

The felt making workshop with artist Josie Chisholm was an amazing experience. Colourful drawings by some year 5 artists were incorporated into a large rainforest felt scene.

The year 5 children also filmed pledges like many celebrities have done to save the rainforest highlighting the extent of the problem and the effects this will have on future generations.

Lunchtime saw the dining room transformed into a rainforest and the lunch menu into a tropical feast. All in all rainforest day was busy, great fun and extremely eye-opening. Thank you very much to everyone who helped with the organisation of the day, the activities, lunch and the café.
