Highlights include a win for the rounders team against Highworth, second place in the Granville Tournament for the girls, and an excellent weekend cricket result for the boys.
Senior Tennis: U18 Boys and Girls Granville Tournament
The senior tennis players were straight into match action when they travelled to St Lawrence for the annual Granville senior tennis tournament. The boys team found it difficult against some very strong teams, while the girls secured second place in the tournament. Steph Wilton and Anna Shields won their tie comfortably while Davina Holland and Maria Clarke came back from a five game deficit to only lose by the odd game.
Girls Rounders: Ashford School U15 Vs Highworth
The Year 10 rounders players' first fixture of the term was played against Highworth. The ‘A' team were ready and focussed and won a tight encounter by 15 rounders to 13 and a half while the ‘Bs', combining with some year 9s, lost their respective fixture.
Boys Cricket: Ashford School 1st XI Vs Dover College
Our first ever 1st XI cricket team took part in an enthralling match against our Granville League rivals. A great all-round performance from Toby Harris and some strong bowling could not prevent Dover College securing victory with just one ball remaining! Better luck next time!
Boys Cricket: Ashford School U15 Vs Dover College
After just one practice session, our U15 team were straight into action against a strong Dover College side. The visitors scored 140 off 20 overs due to an excellent 48 not out from their opening batsman. Our run chase started slowly and we never recovered from losing the key wickets of Ben Simpson and George Norris. Spirited batting from Will Austin and Charlie Howitt could not prevent a 25 run defeat.
Boys Cricket: Ashford School U13 Vs Dover College
The strength in depth of our under 13 squad made team selection very difficult for this, their first game of the season. Having bowled out the opposition for just 46 runs, our batsman secured a comfortable victory by 8 wickets.
