Art

Like in many of the other subjects, we take our inspiration for our Art lessons from the topics covered by our creative curriculum in Pre-Prep.

It is taught weekly and using a variety of mediums such as clay, paint, water colour, drawing skills, print making, collage and oil pastels. Examples of work from famous artists and illustrators are shared and discussed where appropriate, such as Paul Klee, Anthony Brown, Beatrix Potter, Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol, amongst others. In addition to this, the children have a chance to explore colour mixing, the way that different colours are used to invoke feeling and different tones of colour.

Here are some examples of work produced:

  • African Clay masks
  • Print making castles
  • Oil pastel close ups of a Dragon’s eye
  • Observational drawings of a leaf
  • Colour mixing to produce fire paintings
  • Watercolour washes
  • A bread sculpture in the style of Marc Quinn
  • Paper weaving
