Amellia- I am just an ordinary student, but I truly believe that everyone of us can make a difference to help to world. We don't need to be popular or sociable, but only a kind heart and to step up. Everyone, to me, is a hero. Being a hero is simple, I bet everyone knows how. It just depends on how desperate you are. We live because we are together supporting and loving each other. That is the power and the magic.

How to get involved as an individual

If you are too busy to join our school group, you can join Amnesty directly as long as you are over 14. Check out the link below about how to join. It costs £5.00 to join for the year which includes magazines being sent directly to your home and you get a FREE Amnesty T-shirt thrown in as well!

Mission statement

The Ashford Amnesty group aims to

  • Raise awareness about human rights throughout the school
  • Participate in campaigning for human rights
  • Fund raise for Amnesty International

We believe that we all have a duty to defend the human rights of others throughout the world. We are very fortunate to enjoy many freedoms living in the UK and believe that we should use this freedom to work on behalf of others, many of whom show immense courage in standing up for human rights in countries where it is dangerous and difficult to do so.
