Great Big Dance Off
On Monday the Prep School Dance Team were in Oxford to compete in the National Final of The Great Big Dance Off.
This is the largest schools’ Dance Competition in the country.
Starting in January the team first competed in and progressed through very competitive regional heats and were rewarded with a place at the National Final.
The Grand Finale brought together the top dance teams from 30 schools from across the country to perform in the beautiful New Theatre, Oxford.
The Prep School team performed a brilliantly clever and fun piece inspired by the life of English comic actor, filmmaker, and composer Charlie Chaplin. It was danced by 20 girls and boys from Years 4-6 who all wore sharp black suits and bowler hats in homage to Charlie Chaplin’s iconic image.
Clare Heath, Head of Faculty, who choreographed the performance and coached the team said “The GBDO is a seriously high level competition and tension was mounting after each school completed their performance. The Ashford team danced brilliantly with both precision and passion and were announced 3rd over-all on the night. I am thrilled at their progress, dedication and achievement. Huge congratulations to them all!”
