Forget-me-not
On Saturday afternoon we held our annual 28 June Act of Remembrance for the 59th Newfoundland Heavy Regiment, Royal Artillery. They were based at Ashford School during WWII.
Mr Ian Kelly KC, a member of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment Advisory Council, flew from Newfoundland to join the service which was held at the memorial on Old Alfred lawn. Mr Kelly spoke movingly about his father’s service as Warrant Sergeant of D Battery located on Romney Marsh and presented each cadet with a Forget-me-not badge, the special symbol of remembrance in Newfoundland.
We will remember them.
