Heroic Handel Concert on Saturday 18 July

Date Posted: Wednesday 15 July 2020

Alex Osborne (nee Rogers, Yeomen, 2006) is performing in Eboracum Baroque’s virtual fundraising concert ‘Heroic Handel’ this Saturday, 18 July at 19:00.

Eboracum Baroque are a group of young professional singers and instrumentalists that perform across the UK and Europe. They specialise in the performance of Baroque music in a historically informed style and on period instruments. The ensemble are particularly renowned for their performances of 17th and 18th Century English music. They are passionate about ensuring Baroque music is accessible to all ages and have an active education programme.

The concert will celebrate Handel’s music, and has been recorded and filmed in isolation during lockdown. The concert features virtuosic operatic arias from Rinaldo and Giulio Cesare, characterful instrumental music and concludes with the magnificent Coronation anthem, Zadok the Priest. This is a chance to hear talented young musicians performing Handel’s dazzling music for singers and a full period instrument orchestra. Donations of £10-£15 welcome to support the musicians and ensemble, can be made securely here. York Gin will present a segment of the concert all about the gin craze of the 18th century (and some cocktail making too!). You can receive a discount from their website by using the code BAROQUE upon checkout too. You will be able to view the concert either on Facebook or Youtube. For further information on this exciting concert, please see Eboracum Baroque’s website.
