In the Pre-Prep, our History curriculum will help the children to gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world.
It aims to inspire children’s curiosity to know more about the past; to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh-up evidence, examine different perspectives and make reasoned and informed judgements. The children will learn about various significant figures in history using role play and research using different sources of information, including the internet, non-fiction books and fact files. They can make comparisons between significant figures and think about how their life circumstances could have made a different to how they were able to influence their field. The children learn how to order things chronologically and the importance of doing this. Subject areas covered in pre-prep are famous nurses from the past (Florence Nightingale, Mary Seacole and Edith Cavell), The Great Fire of London, kings and queens and great explorers, to name but a few.
