Scoring big with the Saracens for Anthony
For the last three seasons, Anthony has been part of the Saracens programme and recently finished the U18 Academy League, with their final game seeing a 53-33 victory over Sale Sharks. Upon reaching this stage, players eagerly await to hear if they’ve been chosen by Saracens and offered a contract that ultimately keeps them in their professional academy. If given a contract, the player is one step closer to becoming a professional rugby player.
Due to tough competition and limited places, very few players are lucky enough to be awarded contracts, however, for Ashford School’s Anthony this is not the case, and he has been given a contract with Saracens which will see him progress to university as a contracted academy player for at least 3-4 years.
Not only is this an incredible example of Anthony’s skills and talent, but this achievement is even more remarkable given that Anthony has never played club rugby and has reached the level he is at now by playing school rugby each year. This is in sharp contrast to many of his peers who have been playing for many years and/or at a historically-dominant rugby school, which goes to show how talented Anthony is.
His teammates at Saracens who are also U18 international players, and the coaches have extremely high hopes for Anthony and believe this is only the start of his career.
From all the pupils and staff at Ashford School, we congratulate you on such a fantastic achievement – we know you’re going to have a career full of highs!
