Year 9 Bee Club Abuzz with Beekeeping Adventure 🐝

Date Posted: Wednesday 29 April 2026

Four boys from the Ashford School Bee Club recently visited the Ashford Beekeeping Club for an exciting introduction to beekeeping. The visit involved an introductory session about the important role bees play in pollination, food production and the wider environment. The boys learned about life inside a beehive, the different jobs within a colony and the life cycle of a honeybee, gaining a real sense of why bees are so vital to biodiversity.

Suited up in protective beekeeping gear, the group then had the chance to get up close to the hives and observe the care and patience needed when working with bees. The beekeepers talked them through hive management, safety and how to keep bees healthy, giving the boys a valuable insight into what beekeeping involves in practice.

The experience has sparked even greater interest in the Bee Club, and the group is keen to build on what they have learned back at school. It was a great example of learning beyond the classroom and left the Year 9 Bee Club well and truly buzzing!
