The two years of Sixth Form at Ashford School are inevitably over all too quickly and, almost from day one, our students’ eyes are opened to the myriad of opportunities in their life beyond school. The world of work is changing so rapidly, and our students have lots of questions about their next steps. Our highly experienced careers team are here to support, advise and guide students through the full range of opportunities that await them.
One-to-one guidance
Careers and university advisors meet with all Year 12 and 13 pupils individually to discuss their career plans and university options. This support is available throughout the year if pupils or parents want to arrange an appointment – please email wilsone1@ashfordschool.co.uk.
UCAS support
In the Sixth Form, our university advisor, Dr Edward Wilson, provides information sessions on the UCAS application process, as well as more specific guidance on applications to Oxford and Cambridge, Medicine/Dentistry/Veterinary Science and international universities.
Pupils have access to My Super Curricular, a website that provides hundreds of resources for wider reading, research, work experience and volunteering opportunities. This helps students to explore their subjects in more depth, helping them to write academic and compelling university applications. At the end of Year 12, the Life Skills Company provides a specialist personal statement workshop, so that pupils finish the year with a good first draft and a strong action plan for the summer.
