The Global Perspectives course is a stimulating and cross-curricular iGCSE course where students explore wide-ranging topics of global significance.
The course stresses the importance of being an active citizen, and therefore a key aspect of the course is to consider different perspectives from a personal, national and international point of view. Through collaboration with other students, iGCSE candidates explore different cultural perspectives and also analyse information critically to find solutions. Students develop important team building skills by producing presentations, although they also learn to develop an independence of thought by completing an individual report.
In addition to globalisation issues, the written examination covers a wide range of topics including employment, migration and transport systems. The individual report task includes important areas such as the digital world and belief systems, and the team project task can cover areas such as agriculture and human rights. Taught by the Cambridge iGCSE specification, Global Perspectives also allows pupils to acquire transferable skills that are beneficial for their other GCSE subjects, as well as their Post-16 studies.
